Keeping a close eye on temperature

Keeping track of temperature data in refrigerated transport operations has been made easier by Oceasoft, which has developed the Cobalt ML3 mobile temperature data logger.

According to the company, the growing requirement for traceability has led to increasing expenses related to monitoring the cold chain: it is expected that by 2021 US$ 6,23 billion (R85 billion) will be spent annually on monitoring.

The Cobalt ML3 connected data logger takes care of temperature traceability during product logistics phases, leveraging specialised long-range wireless technology.

The solution automatically collects temperature data recorded by Cobalt ML3 modules and transfers the information to a secure cloud platform via a network of receivers. No human intervention is needed to ensure continuous temperature monitoring across the entire logistics chain.

The battery-operated Cobalt ML3 is designed to keep up-front investment and maintenance costs down by using low-energy-consumption technologies, which enable battery life for up to one year.

A protective, waterproof casing can be used for logistics and transport applications requiring additional robustness.

Setup is fast and intuitive, with configuration and data access simplified by the CobaltView companion web application.

Temperature readings are stored in the Cobalt ML3 module’s internal memory, as well as on the secure Oceasoft cloud platform, OCEACloud.

The data can also be shared with third-party systems and the system will send alerts of anomalies by email, SMS or voice message.
