More bang for your buck
The much loved Volkswagen Amarok will certainly gain greater admiration as its entry-level model’s engine has been beefed up … Now delivering 103 kW versus the previous 90kW.
This power boost of the four-cylinder 2.0 TDI common rail injection engine improves driving performance, with the 0-100 km/h acceleration decreasing from 13,2 seconds to 12,6 seconds and the top speed increasing to 168 km/h (from 162 km/h). The 340 Nm engine torque, available from 1 600 r/min to 2 250 r/min, remains unchanged.
The 103 kW engine is only offered with Volkswagen’s Trendline equipment lines and is available with rear-wheel drive and selectable 4Motion derivatives. The former’s double cab will leave a R364 200 hole in your pocket, and the latter a slightly bigger one of R415 200.
As for the optional extras, well, they remain optional for those that wish to customise their bakkies. These include: 17-, 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels; a communication package, which is a multi-function leather steering wheel and Bluetooth connectivity for your cellphone; front and rear Park Distance Control and a RCD 310 radio and CD console with six speakers.
All Amarok Double Cabs come standard with a three-year/100 000 km manufacturer’s warranty, a five-year/
90 000 km Automotion Service Plan and a six-year anti-corrosion warranty – with 15 000 km service intervals.
