DAF: On the up and up

Things are looking very promising for DAF as the latter part of the year, thus far, has delivered steady growth. โOur previous record month, set in September 2011, was beaten in July this year โ and then again in August,โ says DAF sales director Mark Gavin.
โOur September numbers wonโt reach those of August, but will surpass our numbers recorded in July,โ he adds. โSo things are going pretty steadily here, even though there are reports of it โbeing tough out thereโ.โ
This month, Babcock, the sole importer and distributor of DAF trucks for the southern African market, will also complete the delivery of 133 new DAF XF105.460 FTT, 6ร4 truck tractors to Ngululu Bulk Carriers (NBC). This is its largest single order to date.
The order, valued in excess of R180 million, was placed in March 2014 and the trucks were delivered to NBCโs Steelpoort and Phalaborwa operations in batches. This allowed sufficient time to fully enrol the entire fleet over a six-month period.
Gavin adds: โSince Babcock was appointed sole importer and distributor of DAF trucks in the southern African market four years ago, sales have seen impressive growth. The DAF brand will soon begin to reflect its market leading performance in Europe.โ
