Fiat Group Automobiles South Africa, importer of Fiat and Fiat Professional vehicles locally, has launched the new Fiat Doblò Panorama. This latest addition to the Fiat family comes standard with seven seats, endorsing the vehicles proclaimed people-carrying status. However, it offers ample loading space, cost-effective running and environmental-friendliness – making it perfect for work and play.

The new Doblò Panorama, created by Centro Stile Fiat, is 4,39 m long, 1,83 m wide and 1,84 m high, with 1,89 m roof  bars and has a 2,76 m wheelbase. The vehicle comes with a 790 litre boot that can be transformed to 3 200 litres, with the seats folded down, and is equipped with a tonneau cover for added protection of cargo and passengers.

But it isn’t all about space, as the Panorama comes with as a six-speed manual transmission, produces 145 g/km CO2 emissions, delivers a reported fuel consumption of 5,5 l/100 km and has a 1,6 Multijet 77 kW Euro-4 engine.

This power-hub, fitted with an electronically controlled turbocharger, delivers 290 Nm of torque at 1 500 r/min, has a top speed of 164 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 13,4 seconds. The 1,6 Multijet engine has extended service intervals, requiring one every 30 000 km for optimal engine efficiency. Fiat reports that this results in a 25 percent reduction in running and servicing costs when compared to previous generation powertrains.

As for the safety features, the Doblò Panorama comes standard with Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and an Electronic Stability Program (ESP). The Panorama is also the only vehicle in its segment that offers Hill Holder to assist starting uphill.

It also has a list of features as standard that usually fall under the optional extras; including an automatic climate control system, an MP3 stereo with controls on the steering wheel, cruise control, parking sensors and a built-in Blue&Me hands-free system. This includes Bluetooth interface and next-generation voice recognition, a USB port and SMS interpreter.

The Fiat Doblò Panorama is available from 36 dealerships countrywide and comes standard with a three-year/100 000 km full-maintenance plan and warranty at R280 000 – including CO2 tax.
