Amendments to road traffic laws

Alta Swanepoel and Associates has announced that an extensive amendment bill to the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences Act, 1998 (AARTO) has been published for comment in the Government Gazette 36173, dated February 20.

A memorandum explaining the amendments form part of the gazette (p 24), which is available on the Alta Swanepoel and Associates website.

Comments on the amendments may be made until March 22 and must be submitted to the officials listed in the gazette.

In addition, the Criminal Procedure Act, 1977 has received some amendments, the maximum amounts for various provisions of the Criminal Procedure Act being amended by Notice R. 62 of January 30.
