Cycling for change

Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung will participate in the 24-hour Bicycles Change Lives Ride-a-thon on November 28, in support of the #BicyclesChangeLives campaign by Qhubeka, the World Bicycle Relief’s programme in South Africa.

The #BicyclesChangeLives campaign aims to raise funds for 5 000 bicycles for people in rural Africa.

Team MTN Qhubeka p/b Samsung – Africa’s first ever professional continental cycling team registered with UCI (Union Cycliste Internatinale) – has raised over
4 500 bicycles in 2015 to date, and is seeking to hit the goal of 5 000 before the end of the year.
“We believe that bicycles change lives. Every person on this team has had that experience personally,” says team principal, Doug Ryder.

“That’s why we’re working to give talented African riders a path to the pro peloton, while mobilising students in Africa with bicycles through Qhubeka,” he adds.
“We’re asking our supporters to join us in cycling as many kilometres as possible and committing to donating towards funding bicycles for #BicyclesChangeLives. Whether you can ride five kilometres, 50 or 500, we’d love to have you with us!”
