Great figures for Great Wall Motors

During 2012, the sun wasn’t the only thing to rise over the east as the Great Wall Motor Company (GWM) experienced some impressive growth figures last year – selling 620 000 units to be exact. This translates to a year-on-year growth of 28,3 percent above the average industry level.

The company is also expanding internationally and exported 96 500 units, up 16,1 percent, over last year – placing GWM in the top eight within the Chinese auto market. But the growth figures weren’t confined to a single segment as all three of the company’s vehicle categories showed steady expansion.

Sales of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) were up 71 percent, making GWM the best-selling SUV in China for the 10th consecutive year. The passenger segment was up by 2,8 percent, while  light-commercial vehicle sales grew by 12,7 percent. This secures GWM the Chinese pick-up sales title for the 15th consecutive year.

Things are also looking good for 2013 as GWM forecasts its sales will exceed the 700 000 unit mark, which it aims to achieve by further perfecting its existing product lines and introducing 13 new models. This will include models across all three vehicle categories: SUVs, passenger vehicles and pick-ups.
