Developed to satisfy the most demanding expectations while achieving optimal fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions, the Irizar i6 is an especially robust and reliable vehicle. Aside from incorporating the most advanced production components and materials, as well as offering greater automation and customisation, the coach has been subjected to stringent tests at independent institutes and engineering firms, with exceptional performance results.

The i6 includes the following improvements:
• Pultrusion technology (a continuous process for manufacturing composites with a constant cross-sectional shape) in side panels and clean, straight exterior lines;
• Robust door opening systems;
• New luggage door opening mechanism;
• Spacious and robust aluminium luggage racks;
• Light luggage-compartment covers that are equipped with door check systems and fitted with sheet moulding compound materials; and
• Stainless steel aisle floor register covers for access to the engine area.

The coach also boasts an impressive array of safety features. The i6 has been designed to resist frontal collisions and roll-overs, complying with the future R66.01 safety regulation, which substantially exceeds ADR59 roll-over requirements. Bending strength and torsion rigidity have been improved, while enhanced load and weight distribution ensures greater driving stability. Driver comfort has been taken into consideration, with the i6 featuring a more spacious and ergonomic driving position as well as an integrated dashboard screen. Visibility enhancements have been achieved through the use of front and rear LED lighting technology, daytime headlights, as well as exclusive IRIZAR rear-view mirrors that comply with all European standards.

In terms of interior design, the i6 offers a pleasant environment and a feeling of spaciousness. The seats, designed and manufactured by Irizar, are characterised by their aesthetic as well as ergonomic design, durability, accessibility and weight optimisation. Seats are clearly numbered, and the coach has flat screen monitors.

A dual-zone climate system adapts to the needs of the driver and passengers, while a new engine area insulation system reduces engine noise in the coach. LED technology has been used for interior lighting, and there are tactile switches in diffusers for reading and to request the guide or stops.

The i6 is highly adaptable, with customers able to specify the coach and equipment options according to their needs and taste – from a wide range of finishes and various seat upholsteries to different navigation and surveillance systems, a number of catering options, and on-board entertainment systems such as Wi-Fi, iPod connectivity and individual audio arrangements. Further options include access for disabled passengers, fire extinguishing equipment, air purifier, chilled water and pressurised bins.

The range currently incorporates two models (both 3,9 m high) of 13,7 m and 15 m lengths.
