Kingsmead College, a leading girls’ school situated in Rosebank, Johannesburg, has chosen the Iveco Afriway for the transport of its learners.

Resplendent in its dark green livery, representing the school colours, the Afriway has a total of 65 seats, which are trimmed in cloth and fitted with lap-type safety belts. The comfort of the learners is enhanced by the fitment of two roof-mounted ventilation units.

Provision is made to accommodate the large amount of luggage required for sporting trips, with the inclusion of underfloor through-type luggage lockers within the wheelbase of the bus. Interior parcel racks are also fitted for added storage space.

“We have 920 learners at the school who participate in the various pursuits, so mobility is the key factor as not all activities are conducted on the school premises. Until now the school has relied on its own 22-seater bus and other contracted forms of transport to enable learners to participate in the various activities,” explains Lisa Kaplan, the school’s headmistress.

“The unreliability of certain transport operators prompted the decision to invest in our own additional vehicle. The ‘Bus Project’ was initiated in 2015 and with the enthusiastic assistance of the learners and parents, fund raising activities began. This year we were able to research the market and find the most suitable vehicle to reliably and safely transport our girls to any event,” she adds.
