New leaders, same values
The Road Freight Association’s (RFA) February board meeting delivered two new office bearers, selected by the RFA directors for a two-year term.
Nico van der Westhuizen, CEO of Imperial Logistics’ transport and warehousing division, has been elected as the RFA chairperson. And Gerhard Marais, product group manager of logistics services at Roshcon SOC, was chosen as vice chairperson.
Van der Westhuizen has been a RFA board member for the past four years, while Marais was appointed two years ago.
Van der Westhuizen says that his focus during the term will be threefold: “To ensure that the RFA is run as a professional organisation that will add value to its members, to improve stakeholder relationships and to ensure that the powerful lobbying platform of the RFA is used to its full potential.”
He adds that the industry is facing significant challenges through rising input costs such as fuel, tolls and permits. “These need to be addressed through the vital lobbying platform that the RFA provides,” Van der Westhuizen adds.
