MAN’s Bus Plant goes Green. Without sustainabili MAN’s Bus Plant goes Green. Without sustainability, there is no future. MAN South Africa embarked on a solar project at its bus production plant in Olifantsfontein, which is a major move for MAN on its global mission to build a cost-effective future and reduce MAN’s impact on the environment. The power generation in this instance will reduce CO2 consumption by 372,484kg per year. MAN’s production plant now has a sufficient supply of electricity during peak production time and this sustainable energy source is easily accessible and will continue to be as long as there is sunlight and most importantly has reduced MAN’s impact on the environment.

Back then, there were no cars, and she was just the perfect height to carry horses and later steam trains. But times have changed. Despite her short stature, Biddy’s developed a very big appetite... mostly for trucks too tall to pass safely under her brick façade. Carte Blanche went to meet her. It was a real honour to be invited to the Internat It was a real honour to be invited to the International Press Workshop in Frankfurt this week. And it was great to meet up with our dear colleagues from the International Truck of the Year jury, including (pictured from left) Torbjørn Eriksen (who represents Norway), Aleksander Głuś (who represents Poland) and Gianenrico Griffini (who represents Italy and is also the organisation's president).

We were treated to presentations from the captains of the global transport industry, including the remarkable Karin Rådström, who is Member of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck and also head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. She's enormously capable and jolly nice too (what a great combo).

Pictured behind us is the highly innovative eActros. We will be seeing the eActros LongHaul (range: 500 km) later this year at the IAA. Speaking of the IAA, this will be the first time that Daimler will show more zero-emission vehicles than vehicles with internal combustion engines.

It is in our own hands to make it happen now, says Karin Rådström Board member of Daimler Truck. At the IAA, the company will show the eActros, eEconic and… the big news is the eActros LongHaul (range: 500 km).
Railway transport is far more environmentally frie Railway transport is far more environmentally friendly than road, points out Andreas Schmitz, CEO of Schmitz Cargobull AG. But rail simply cannot cope with the volumes. So, road transport will continue to be with us for a long time. But it needs to become greener.

At the International Press Workshop in Frankfurt, At the International Press Workshop in Frankfurt, Quantron has announced that its new heavy-duty EU truck with fuel cell technology will enjoy its world debut at the IAA.
