Sprinter sets new record
Between January and March, approximately 45 000 new units of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter found homes around the globe – making it the most successful first quarter in the vehicle’s 20-year history and representing a growth of about ten percent over the same period last year.
With a total of approximately 3,3-million units delivered to date, the Sprinter is one of the most successful commercial vehicles of all time and one of the best sellers in Daimler’s product portfolio.
Volker Mornhinweg, head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, says: “With the Sprinter, we have had a first-class product on the market, which has defined an entire segment for over 20 years.
“It is primarily due to our van icon that Mercedes-Benz Vans has posted its most successful first quarter of all time – in terms of unit sales, revenue and earnings before interest and taxes,” he says.
Daimler Vans sold a total of 86 800 vehicles over the period. March was the most successful month of all time for the division, with 38 000 vehicles delivered to customers.
Mercedes-Benz Vans is currently preparing for the market launch of the next-generation Sprinter. Modification and modernisation work is being done in Germany at the lead plant for worldwide Sprinter production in Düsseldorf and at the Sprinter plant in Ludwigsfelde in Brandenburg, as well as at the González Catán plant near Buenos Aires, in Argentina.
