VW gets its rock on
Robbie Williams’ sold out “Take the Crown Stadium Tour 2013” has kicked off and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is joining the party … Ten black Multivan Highline and two Multivan Business vehicles are accompanying the tour spanning stadiums in 14 countries until the end of August.
This is the third international tour where the Volkswagen Multivan, the current descendent of the iconic VW Kombi (making it rock star royalty), is being used to transport the star and his band. “Everything is choreographed to the last second: checking into the hotel, rehearsals, the show, checking out and the airport,” says tour manager Jaeki Hildisch. “So, of course, it’s important that everything runs perfectly, especially the cars.”
The Multivan models all sport TDI engines that deliver over 180 hp (134,23 kW) and have direct-shift gearboxes. And the tinted windows mean that the celebrity passengers are safe from inquisitive glances and cameras.
The Multivan is definitely living up to its iconic heritage, proving that it has what it takes to shuttle any star.
