Engen opens 14th truck stop
Whether travelling from Kimberly to Namibia, or via Springbok down the West Coast, Engen has, for some years, been aware of demand by its customers for a Truck Stop facility in the area.
Upington has now been added as a welcome refuelling and refreshment stopover on the routes of long-haulage companies and their drivers, and was officially opened on April 6.
“The opening of Engen’s 14th Truck Stop is well timed. The facility is perfectly placed and brilliantly equipped to impact the lives of drivers and the local community for the better. It will fill a large gap in Engen customers’ route plans and stop-over schedules,” says Joe Mahlo, Engen’s general manager of sales and marketing.
Paul Westcott, Engen regional sales manager for Commercial Fuels, adds some detail: “This spacious truck port can comfortably cater for 100 overnight stopovers.
“Along with a restroom and showers, we offer a laundry, an ATM, a take-away shop, biltong shop and an OK Express supermarket packed with grocery and convenience items – so folk don’t have to travel all the way into Upington.
“It sets a standard that we’d like to see replicated in the future,” he concludes.
