Conquer-it-all Kombi

Fans of the Volkswagen (VW) Transporter are die-hard in their adoration of this versatile, enduring people and goods mover.
With the latest, sixth generation launched in Europe earlier this year, VW has unveiled a special concept version at the current Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA); that will undoubtedly appeal to fans of the โKombiโ brand.
ย ย
The new Multivan PanAmericana was designed by VW Commercial Vehicles to have the comfort of the Multivan with the off-road capabilities of a sports utility vehicle (SUV).
A key design consideration was to conveniently and safely transport the ownerโs motorcycle in the van, with electrically assisted loading and unloading โ allowing them to take it to their favourite Alpine pass or race track.
ย
Painted in Oryx White, the PanAmericana concept vehicle features distinctive details including the styling line above the side sill in Flash Red and black, wheel-arch mouldings and flared side sills as well as a sturdy, lightweight metal under-body guard.
ย
Powering the Multivan PanAmericana is a 150 kW/450 Nm 2.0 TDI engine, a seven-speed DSG gearbox, 4Motion permanent all-wheel drive and a mechanical rear differential lock.
ย ย
There are, unfortunately, no plans to bring the Multivan PanAmericana to market โฆ yet.
