Delivering the future

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will showcase its e-Co-Motion concept at the Geneva International Motor Show, in Switzerland, this week. The unique Transporter concept vehicle is completely emission free and could possibly be the eco-friendly delivery van of the future.

“Electric mobility – especially in light commercial vehicles – could play a crucial role in meeting the growing transport needs of the world’s megacities,” explains Dr Eckhard Scholz, VW Commercial Vehicles board spokesperson.

He adds: “Small, electric delivery vans would have predictable travel routes and fixed depots which would simplify battery charging and equipment maintenance.”

Exclusively conceptualised with an electric drive, the e-Co-Motion offers various user-friendly vehicle properties. It has high manoeuvrability with a small vehicle footprint, good visibility and ergonomics and a low cargo floor height with a large cargo capacity to make loading easier.

It has a length of 4,55 metres, width of 1,90 metres and height of 1,96 metres, with an impressive 800 kilograms of payload capacity. The generous payload is ideal for conditions which require maximum space utilisation.

There are also as many different body versions and customer solutions as one can imagine – whether it’s a driver’s cab in front of a cargo box, as in the concept vehicle, or a passenger shuttle, low platform or refrigerated box.
