Eye spy a Volvo!

Although the new Volvo FM’s official launch only takes place next week, the general public have already been given the chance to spot the vehicle on the roads of Europe. Over the past two weeks, two unmasked trucks have been following a separate route, after departing together from Spain, as part of the Volvo Trucks on-line “paparazzi” competition.

To help potential spotters, the trucks have been marked with distinctive stripes to make them stand out from surrounding traffic. The sharpest eye to record catching a glimpse of the target will be rewarded with a special prize.

Jeff Bird, director press tests at Volvo Trucks and competition project leader, explains: “We want the public to send us the first snapshots of the new truck. The images will be published on a dedicated website and the winners will be invited to an exclusive test drive of the new truck in Gothenburg, Sweden.”

The FM is next in line in the rapid renewal of the product range by Volvo Trucks and is set to provide drivers with a completely new level of handling and an innovative cab environment.

The FM is also equipped with Volvo Dynamic Steering, which combines a conventional hydraulic power steering system with an electronically regulated electric motor, fitted to the steering gear. The system provides the driver with effortless steering at low speeds, as well as unbeatable directional stability on the open road.
