Excellence in trucking at RFA Convention 2014

It’s almost time for the annual Road Freight Association (RFA) Convention. This year it will be held at the newly renovated Wild Coast Sun in the Eastern Cape, from June 8 to 10, and the focus is on “Trucking Excellence”.

According to the RFA, the Convention will bring delegates the latest news on trucking issues, unravel legislative impacts and hold open discussions on challenges in the road freight industry.

The RFA says it is a key stakeholder in negotiating industry wages and, as such, is very involved in collective bargaining. This is why one of the topics on this year’s line-up is The Future of Collective Bargaining.

Alignment of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Sector Codes is also on the agenda and, according to the RFA, the outcome of these discussions will impact strongly on the strategic direction road freight companies use in scoring and aligning their B-BBEE initiatives.

The topic Anti-Competitiveness and Crossing the Line has also been added; “with associations now coming under the spotlight and, with our industry being next, members need to be aware of what constitutes anti-competitive behaviour,” explains the RFA.

Visitors to the Convention can also expect panel discussions by government and energy users covering the topics: The Impact of Carbon Tax, as well as Building a Better South Africa with infrastructure that can carry the economy.
