ID Logistics opens Atlas warehouse

Following reports of its expansion into third-party logistics, ID Logistics launched its Atlas facility in Boksburg, at the beginning of October.

“Based on the successes achieved in 2012/13, we started to build our own distribution facilities from the ground up. We appointed four dedicated hauliers and four co-loaders over the 16 sites that we manage.

“We are pleased that this year, as planned, we managed to roll out and go live with four distribution centres, 12 cross docks and 200 secondary trucks,” explains MD Etienne Juillard.

As part of an international group, the company uses set benchmarks that guide the group.

“Other innovations incorporated in our warehouse include blue safety lights and a mobile receiving station that moves to the pallets. We will soon introduce double-deck trucks to increase capacity,” concludes Juillard.

ID Logistics began operations in South Africa in 2012 in support of the Danone network change strategy, when an international ID Logistics team arrived in South Africa to manage the Danone factory warehouse.
