GEA invests in the youth
In support of socio-economic development, GEA recently took part in an event in a rural part of the Limpopo province, hosted by the non-profit organisation: Investing in Youth of Botlokwa. Botlokwa is a village located about 60 km from Polokwane, in the Molemole Municipality.
The purpose of the event was to address a lack of information among learners regarding possible career paths. At the event each student received a career assessment.
A team from GEA explained the different technologies offered by the company. The learners were most fascinated by the different technologies that are used in the production of food and beverages and in refrigeration systems.
The team also told the learners about the current training and internship programmes, as well as the many career paths available within GEA.
“All-in-all it proved to be an exceptionally worthwhile event, which highlighted the importance of non-profit organisations, government and the private sector working together to grow skills and career development,” says Taryn Browne, communications and marketing manager, GEA Southern & Eastern Africa.
Other exhibitors included the South African Air Force, ABSA Bank and the University of Johannesburg. Special guests included Miss Limpopo 2016 and the Mayor of the Molemole Municipality.
