It’s time for the T6!

It’s time for the T6!

The family resemblance is uncanny: the sixth-generation Volkswagen (VW) T-Series will not be mistaken for any other vehicle on the road. This is not a bad thing, when its predecessor sold two million units – over 23 400 in South Africa – in 11 years.

Having not changed a winning formula too much, the T6 offers improved safety features, comfort, convenience and greater driving dynamics.

As with the T5, a range of body styles caters to every need: from a single or double-cab pickup, to the short- and long-wheelbase panel vans, the diverse Crew Bus, people-moving Kombi and luxurious Caravelle.

The interior environment has been extensively updated and now has a more upmarket look and feel. A host of new technology – such as a touch-screen infotainment system – is available, while additional and redesigned storage areas round off the main cabin enhancements.

Safety has been a big consideration with the T6. All models are equipped with the Multi-Collision Braking System fitted as standard, while the Fatigue Detection System features on the Kombi and Caravelle.

The engine range remains unchanged with the option of 2.0 TDI or 2.0 BiTDI powerplants.

Prices start at R239 900 and go up to R848 800. All models have a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty.

Transporter models are offered with a standard two-year/unlimited kilometre manufacturer warranty and three-year/60 000 km Automotion Maintenance Plan.

Kombi and Caravelle models come standard with a three-year/120 000 km manufacturer warranty and five-year/60 000 km Automotion Maintenance Plan.
