Mahindra Piks Up the pace

Mahindra South Africa has launched the updated version of the next-generation Mahindra Pik Up – which the company says is an “all-rounder with new-age, powerful, spacious and hi-tech offerings”.

“South Africa is a key strategic market for Mahindra. We have been in business here for over a decade and the launch of the next-generation Mahindra Pik Up is testimony to our commitment to the market.

“Our products offer the latest available technology and great value for money. We believe this is what the market needs at a time when affordability is a cause for concern,” Sanjoy Gupta, CEO Mahindra South Africa, says.

While still a rugged workhorse, the new Mahindra Pik Up benefits from completely revised styling and plusher interiors.

The flagship model of the range, the S10 Double Cab, offers features such as remote central locking, cruise control, a six-inch touchscreen with navigation, multifunction steering wheel, auto wipers and intelligent headlamps.

Safety features include anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, dual airbags, and two ISOFIX child-seat anchors in the rear seat for all Double Cab S10 models.

An updated 2,2-litre, four-cylinder mHawk turbodiesel engine with variable-geometry turbocharger powers the vehicle. It produces 103 kw and 320 Nm. Towing capacity is rated at 2 500 kg.

The turbodiesel engine is linked to a six-speed manual gearbox. A 4×4 transmission with low range is available, but the entire range is fitted with a mechanical locking differential as standard.

Pricing starts at R187 995 for the S4 Single Cab 4×2 (with an optional service plan) and goes up to R354 995 for the S10 Double Cab 4×4. The pricing includes a four-year/120 000 km warranty and roadside assistance, and a five-year/90 000 km service plan.
