Racking up recognition

Racking up recognition

Engen has once again been hailed as the head honcho among petrol stations, for the third year in a row, as it won the Sunday Times Top Brands Award. The fuel retailer and convenience brand won the award outright in 2011, after rising to joint first place with BP in 2010.

Joe Mahlo, general manager of the company’s sales and marketing division, says Engen will continue to build on the winning strategy of tailoring its approach and offerings to its various market segments.

Lesley McDonough, Engen’s group brand manager, adds that the company’s sustained success shows the brand has pride of place in South African motorists’ hearts and minds. “Our brand continues to be recognised and trusted for service and innovative offerings that put the customer first.”

But the company didn’t only get a hat trick; it pulled a rabbit out of it as well … Engen was acknowledged as South Africa’s leading oil company in the 2013 Top Company Reputation Index, run by Mail & Guardian, while  also retaining its ranking as the “coolest petroleum brand” in the Sunday Times Generation Next youth survey.
