Your myconnect might expire

Do you have a MyCiTi myconnect card for the City of Cape Town’s bus rapid transit system? Well best you check the expiry date imprinted on its front … the first batch of 10 000 cards issued to passengers will expire on May 31.

The city explains that, as a banking product, each card has an expiry date. MyCiTi has opened dedicated card expiry kiosks at the Civic Centre and Table View stations, which will replace expiring myconnect cards free of charge and immediately transfer existing balances to a new card.

Commuters with one of these cards must ensure that they do this before the card expires on May 31, or they will be required to purchase a new card for R35 and wait 31 days to transfer their balance.
