Daimler’s North Carolina milestone
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has produced its 500 000th Freightliner truck at its Mount Holly plant in North Carolina. The milestone vehicle, a medium-duty Freightliner (Business Class M2 106) has been handed over to long-term customer Duke Energy.
The new truck enabled Duke Energy, one of the largest electric power companies in the US, to complete its fleet of several hundred other Freightliners. The truck was handed over to the loyal customer as it rolled off the production line.
DTNA produces and markets vehicles under the Freightliner, Western Star and Thomas Built Buses brands.
The Mount Holly plant manufactures medium-duty and heavy-duty Freightliner Business Class trucks. The Class 6 to 8 vehicles are available as conventional types including hybrid and natural gas trucks.
Martin Daum, president and CEO of the company, says the diligent daily efforts of employees since the plant was established in 1979 have turned it into what it is today.
