Eqstra cycles for CHOC

Over R100 000 was raised by Eqstra* staff at last year’s Eqstra Spring Classic, the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge and through the sale of Eqstra cycling kit. In March, the funds were handed over to The Cows, the fundraising arm of the Children’s Haematology Oncology Clinics (CHOC), Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa.

This year, funds will be raised through the Rent-a-cow (where cyclists can rent a cow suit) and Eqstra Bike-wash initiatives at the Eqstra Spring Classic (to be held on September 7), as well as through other fund-raising initiatives.

“The time, effort and commitment shown by the CHOC Foundation, The Cows and volunteers, is humbling,” says Walter Hill, chief executive at Eqstra. “The support given to the children and their families is exemplary and plays a vital role within our communities. It is a cause well worth supporting, as the drive for increased awareness certainly can save lives.”

These much-needed funds go a long way towards assisting the CHOC Foundation with its numerous support programmes. CHOC CEO, Francois Peenz states: “CHOC’s whole functioning thrives around the relationship with donor sponsors, The Cows and companies such as Eqstra. Together we are keeping more than hope alive!”

* Eqstra is an integrated leasing and capital equipment group with value-added services in the passenger and commercial vehicle, industrial equipment and construction and mining markets.
