Slower economic growth, high levels of industrial action, rising inflationary pressures and a further increase in interest rates are setting the stage for new vehicle price hikes … but some are managing to beat this. Geely’s Loadhopper range of small pick-ups survived this onslaught, with a handful of these run-arounds still available at rock-bottom prices.

With a base price of R92 900 (including VAT), the DFSK Loadhopper boasts a load box of two by 1,3 m. Geely adds that it can easily handle a payload of 600 kg.

“The Loadhopper packs a heavy punch when it comes to workload,” says Devon Nassif, sales and dealer development manager of the Dacar Motor Corporation, importer and distributor of Geely passenger and DFSK light commercial vehicles.

“Our many loyal customers operating this gutsy little bakkie refer to it as a ‘trailer with its own engine’. It really is the ideal vehicle for anything from garden rubble and mini loads to collections, deliveries and general transport of basically anything.”

The Loadhopper comes with a one-year/60 000 km warranty. “Service parts are really affordable, which means running costs are kept at a minimum because of low maintenance costs,” adds Nassif.
